For patients living abroad or far from Milan
Online consultation for rectus diastasis
A structured video consultation via Google Meet to review your symptoms, medical history and abdominal-wall imaging, discuss whether REPA or MILA may be appropriate, and plan the next steps before travelling to Italy.

What is needed before the appointment
Clinical records and imaging sent in advance
Because a video consultation does not allow direct palpation of the abdominal wall, imaging is required to make the assessment clinically meaningful. Please send the reports and the complete images before the appointment, not only a written summary.
- Abdominal-wall ultrasound or, preferably, a CT scan of the abdominal wall.
- The radiology report and the original images, when available.
- A concise medical history, previous abdominal operations and current medication.
- Information about pregnancies, caesarean sections, hernias, weight changes and symptoms.
- Standardised abdominal photographs may be requested as additional documentation.
How the process works
Four clear steps from first contact to a surgical plan
The purpose of the online consultation is not to provide a generic opinion. It is a formal specialist assessment based on your history, symptoms and documentation.
Send your request
Contact the office by email, briefly describe your case and indicate that you are requesting an online consultation in English.
Share the records
Send the abdominal-wall ultrasound or CT images, the report and the relevant clinical information before the scheduled appointment.
Meet on Google Meet
During the video consultation, Dr Cuccomarino reviews the case, explains the findings and discusses the available treatment options.
Receive the next steps
If surgery is indicated, you receive practical information and a personalised estimate. The direct clinical examination is completed before surgery.
What the consultation includes
A specialist assessment, not a brief informational call
The appointment is dedicated to understanding the abdominal-wall problem and deciding whether the patient may benefit from a minimally invasive procedure. The consultation includes:
- Review of symptoms, functional limitations and aesthetic concerns.
- Assessment of rectus diastasis and possible associated umbilical or linea alba hernias.
- Review of the imaging and previous surgical history.
- Discussion of REPA, MILA, abdominoplasty or non-surgical management when appropriate.
- Explanation of anaesthesia, the hospital stay, recovery and postoperative follow-up.
- A personalised written estimate after the clinical evaluation.

Consultation fee
Payment and scheduling
The online consultation costs €150 and is paid in advance. Once the payment and documentation have been received, the office confirms the appointment and sends the Google Meet link.
The fee covers the specialist consultation and review of the documentation supplied before the appointment. It does not include additional radiology examinations or translations of medical reports.
Remote versus in-person assessment
When an online consultation is useful
Online consultation
Particularly useful for patients living abroad, far from the clinics, or wishing to understand whether a trip to Milan and a surgical pathway may be appropriate.
It requires prior imaging because the abdominal wall cannot be examined directly.
In-person consultation
Allows direct examination, palpation of the abdominal wall and a complete clinical assessment. Imaging is not routinely required before an in-person consultation.
It remains essential before surgery and may confirm or modify the preliminary plan discussed online.
Planning treatment in Italy
From the online consultation to surgery in Milan
If a procedure is indicated, the office helps coordinate the next steps, including preoperative tests, travel dates, hospital admission and postoperative checks.
Consultations and surgery in Milan
In-person consultations:
Centro Medico Visconti di Modrone, Milan.
Surgery:
Day Surgery Resnati, Via Santa Croce, Milan.
REPA always requires one night of hospital admission. The recommended length of stay in Milan after discharge depends on the procedure, the clinical case and the distance of the return journey.
The online consultation is the appropriate place to discuss these practical details before booking travel.
Frequently asked questions
Online consultation for international patients
Is the consultation carried out by telephone?
No. The consultation is carried out by video via Google Meet, so that the clinical documentation and the relevant anatomical findings can be discussed clearly.
Do I need an ultrasound or CT scan?
Yes, for a video consultation an abdominal-wall ultrasound or, preferably, a CT scan is required and must be sent in advance. Imaging is not routinely required for an in-person consultation.
Can a surgical indication be given online?
In many cases, the clinical history and imaging allow a preliminary indication and a proposed treatment plan. The definitive strategy is confirmed after direct examination before surgery.
Will I receive a cost estimate?
Yes. A personalised estimate is prepared after the consultation, once the most appropriate treatment and the organisational requirements have been defined.
Can the consultation be conducted in English?
Yes. Online consultations for international patients can be conducted in English. Medical reports in other languages may need to be accompanied by an English or Italian translation.
How do I send large CT files?
The office will provide practical instructions. Large radiology files can generally be shared through the radiology centre’s secure link or a protected file-transfer service.
